IMLI Chosen For NASA Cryocooler Test Program To Achieve LH₂ Zero Boil-Off

Quest Thermal Group, the world-leader in advanced thermal insulation systems, proudly announces its collaboration with NASA on the groundbreaking LH₂ Two Stage Cryocooled Zero Boil Off test program. This partnership reflects Quest Thermal Group’s commitment to advancing cryogenic thermal technologies and contributing to NASA’s ambitious goals for space exploration.

IMLI To Insulate NASA Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope

Quest Thermal Group has completed the design and fabrication of their advanced IMLI helping insulate the Wide Field Instrument on NASA’s Roman Space Telescope. Quest is providing specialized insulation solutions designed to maintain optimal operating temperatures for critical components of the Roman Space Telescope. Our advanced thermal insulation technologies are tailored to withstand the harsh conditions of space and ensure the telescope’s precision and performance throughout its mission.

Quest Thermal Group Invited to Attend NASA Workshop on Cryogenic Fuel Systems for Aircraft

Quest Thermal was invited to attend the NASA Cryogenic Fuel Systems for Aircraft meeting September 19 – 20 at Glenn Research Center.  This NASA – industry workshop discussed goals, challenges, and potential future research strategy to develop cryogenic fuel systems for aircraft and establish a pathway to sustainable aviation.  Topics discussed ranged from certification and airport operations, to challenges and opportunities for airframes, propulsion platforms, and fuel systems. Liquid cryogenic fuel tank and insulation was widely recognized by participants as critical technology, which is Quest’s expertise!

Quest R&D program studied vapor cooled foam insulation

Quest Thermal is working with our client to model, analyze, prototype and test vapor cooled foam insulation systems.  The results informed our understanding and modeling of foam based insulation, and well as determine precise heat flux and performance obtainable.  Vapor cooled foam insulation systems may be useful for certain applications such as LH₂ fueled aircraft.

Quest designs insulation for Lunar ISRU surface liquefaction ground test

Quest Thermal, working with an Aerospace Prime Contractor, has designed, fabricated and installed a novel IMLI insulation system for a large LH₂ test tank that integrates an active cryocooler with vapor cooling methods.  This NASA Tipping Point program is to advance the state of the art for ISRU surface liquefaction and storage. The system includes IMLI and WMLI highly integrated with the tank, tank supports, vapor cooling manifolds and cryocooler feedlines.
