Mechanical / Aerospace Engineer – Quest Thermal Group – December 2025

Quest Thermal Group is advancing the state of the art in high‑performance thermal insulation for aerospace, energy, and industrial applications. Quest is a leading provider of ultra high thermal performance insulation for NASA and Aerospace Primes, and is currently working on lunar landers, lunar rovers, space telescopes, space exploration missions, and liquid hydrogen storage systems for aircraft and transportation.
We’re looking for a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer who can take ownership of design, analysis, prototyping, and testing across a range of thermal‑mechanical systems. You’ll work closely with a small, highly technical team to develop custom insulation systems for commercial and government customers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, iterative development, design for manufacturing, and seeing their designs move from concept to production.
Quest Thermal Group (www.questthermal.com) is seeking an entry or junior level Mechanical Engineer or Aerospace Engineer with a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. As an Engineer at a small company, you will make direct impacts that will foster company growth while working on cutting-edge technology and interesting programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical and thermal‑mechanical components and systems using Pro/Engineer and SolidWorks
- Perform engineering analyses, including heat transfer, structural, and materials evaluations
- Develop CAD models, drawings, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly
- Support prototype fabrication, testing and data analysis
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to refine requirements and deliverables
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement efforts
- Contribute to R&D initiatives and help shape next‑generation insulation and cryogenic technologies
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 1 – 5 years of relevant engineering experience (aerospace, cryogenics, thermal systems, or similar preferred)
- Proficiency with CAD tools (ProE or SolidWorks preferred), including sheet metal layout
- Strong understanding of heat transfer, materials, and mechanical design fundamentals
- Ability to work hands-on with prototypes, instrumentation, and test setups
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication, documentation and technical report writing abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with thermal insulation technologies or cryogenic systems
- Experience with FEA
- Experience with QA systems
- Experience with 3D printing
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, machining, and assembly
- Experience in small-company or R&D environments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to evolving requirements

Experience with production assembly and test fixturing and understanding of good manufacturing practices is a plus. Familiarity with clean room protocols and quality assurance protocols a plus.
